WRITING WHILE ON CHEMO...

Halfway through chemo. My hair is thinning and appetite's not great. But I'll take it, because a few days ago I had a monitoring PET scan, which my doctor told me indicates I have no cancer anywhere in my body! STFU, Right?!? I still have to go through 6 more chemo treatments, but bring 'em on. I am kicking this cancer's ass!

I took time to re-work a portion of The Long Squeeze that follows the central action sequence, and I think it will keep the suspense level up until some exposition that has to happen at some point. I am confident the way I am doing it will keep the explanatory dialogue short. But instinctually, after reworking something over and over, you know when you have finally gotten it right. I hope to have the basic draft of The Long Squeeze manuscript done and ready for editing by year's end.

By the way, sold another 30 copies of The Trust Company in May (the way this stuff works I don't find out about it until a month and a half later). June should be a good month for my debut novel as well, as that is when we spiked up in interest on Amazon. I recently came upon this quote from William Faulkner, and it hits close to home in describing my journey with my protagonist, Nick Sanders:

"It begins with a character, usually, and once he stands up on his feet and begins to move, all I can do is trot along behind him with a paper and pencil trying to keep up long enough to put down what he says and does."
